There are 17.9 million absence days lost a year in the U.K. due to stress, anxiety or depression*. The average cost of poor mental health is £1205 for the private sector and £1551 for the public sector***. This accounts for absences and reduced productivity due to presenteeism. 


These costs increase further if an employee leaves and you have more lost productivity, recruitment and new employee training to factor in.


The pandemic has forced organisations to examine their approach to employee wellbeing. The CIPD's Health and Wellbeing at Work report for 2021 shows that 45% of employees say their mental health is worse now than when the pandemic started. Unfortunately, 20% of organisations have not taken steps to reduce employee stress.


We have some way to go, but with 84% of organisations observing presenteeism in this past year, the mental health time bomb is ticking for many organisations.

How does coaching work?

  • Coaching sessions are held in person, by video call (Skype, Zoom, WhatsApp, Facetime) or by phone.
  • Each session takes one hour.

What will employees do during coaching?

We'll have honest conversations about personal issues. Employees will be asked to commit to the coaching process and sessions. We'll discuss what career goals they want to achieve, their strengths and weaknesses, obstacles that currently hinder them (e.g. stress, anxiety or depression) and how they can overcome them.

What to expect from SUSANNE

  • Coaching goals are set with your employee during the first meeting
  • a plan is put in place for a minimum of three months
  • the employee can meet me once a week, once a fortnight, or once a month, whatever works
  • your employee will get support to reflect on their progress, to motivate them and constructively challenge them.


Everything said and written between the employee and I is kept confidential and is stored securely. This is essential to build trust. Paper files are kept securely and digital files and communications are securely encrypted. I have a non-disclosure agreement available to protect the confidentiality of your organisation.

What is the return on investment?

In the Thriving at Work report commissioned by the UK Government, researchers Deloitte suggested that for every £1 employers invest in mental health interventions, £1.50 - £9 could be generated as a result.

Free online tools to support employees

Employees also get free access to the Lifeswitch Coaching App. This contains a variety of tools and exercises to support their progress, covering areas such as understanding yourself, goal-setting, reducing stress, time management, problem solving and managing anxiety and depression.


Employees can use their laptop, phone or tablet to submit exercises.
